About

I got fed up carrying two pairs of boots to every game. I usually cycled to my weekend matches, and I didn't enjoy a second pair digging into my back the whole way there.

I figured there had to be a better way to know which boots I'd need — so I started measuring. I spent two years collecting pitch readings every week to train the AI model behind Studs or Moulds.

What are studs or moulds?
FG · Moulds

Firm ground, short grass, slightly damp. Your go-to for most of the year.

SG · Studs

Wet, soft, muddy pitches. Think Sunday league in February when you need grip at the crucial moment.

How it works
  1. Pick your pitch location on the map or enter a postcode.
  2. We analyse recent rainfall, soil moisture and weather data for that area.
  3. Our AI model — trained on real pitch-side observations across the UK — gives you a studs or moulds recommendation with a confidence score.
Accuracy

The model is optimised for UK amateur grass pitches and is updated daily. It can't account for everything — a burst water main, a heavily-watered pitch — so always apply your own judgement, especially when confidence is moderate or lower.
